4th Spell: [Video]

[The feed starts out with the sound of an explosion and the slightly nauseating sight of the gear bouncing around as Ilya fumbles with it.]

Hephaestus, stop poking your nose into the Pineco! I don't care if you want to show off how strong you are against explosions, it's still really annoying!

[There's a sad, almost whining cry (which is impressive considering it sounds like grating steel) in response to that off camera, but Ilya stands her ground.]

Don't you argue with me! Leave them alone! [She sighs and turns back to the camera.] I wish I could have just flown back to Goldenrod now that I've gotten my badge from Azalea. Hephaestus has been incorrigible about showing off how tough he is now that he's evolved. I keep telling him I know already, but he just doesn't stop. Unfortunately, I don't have any Pokemon who could carry me yet-

[She's interrupted by an angry screech, and with a blink of surprise she turns the gear on a glaring (and tiny) Aerodactyl.]

Harpy, don't look at me like that, you're still a baby, you can't-

[The Aerodactyl screeches again, and snaps its wings out, beginning to beat hard against the ground.]

H-hey, what do you think you're doing? Stop that this instant!

[With one last screech, Harpy takes off to the trees, zig-zagging around the bigger branches and smashing right through the smaller ones, until, to Ilya's amazement, she breaks through the canopy. The gear follows her ascent and focuses on the hole she left as Ilya stands there dumbstruck.]

But... she just hatched a few days ago. How...?

[She cuts off mid-sentence as she makes a sudden realization.]

Harpy, come back here!

[But it doesn't seem to take her that long to recapture her wayward Pterosaur. She's muttering softly when it clicks on again.]

-so don't scare me like that. Okay, I got her... she didn't really make it that hard, but I don't think she actually wanted to get away at all.

From what you were saying, it sounds like she wanted to prove she could fly...! Ah, at least she didn't make it hard for you, right? I'm glad everything worked out, Ilya-chan!

Yeah, I... I think I might have insulted her. But she's just a baby, I didn't want to push her too hard.

[Harpy screeches at her a bit, but is mollified when Ilya pats her head.] Alright, alright, I understand now. Just don't go off without me like that again.

Hm...I had a similar problem, with Jin-chan. I think that pokemon, like anyone, want to be recognized for who they are rather than their age or stature!

...Even if that's hard for the trainers who hatched them, haha.

I believe she would have been born knowing Fly, among other things!

[There's a few moments before Ilya responds to Aradia, but she still looks a bit bewildered.]

Well, yes, but knowing how and being able are two different things. I didn't realize her wings were already so strong.

Pokemon do seem to mature faster than other creatures do...it's strange. I think perhaps it has something to do with the species of pokemon, too.

You mean, because she doesn't evolve? I guess that makes sense... that's kind of like growing up for them, after all.

Yes, I do! I think pokemon without evolutions tend to be...bigger, really.

If you mean help catching her, no. I don't think she was actually trying to get away.

[Harpy screeches from over Ilya's shoulder.]

[That question gets another, much angrier shriek from the Aerodactyl.]

Harpy! Calm down! [Ilya soothes her for a moment before turning back to Lancer.]

I think she thinks you just insulted her.

[ Saber's tone is softer than the last time they spoke, possibly all part of her guilt complex. ]

Do you need a Pokemon sent to you that can fly safely?

I know, but all my others were still pretty childish until they had at least one evolution.

Maybe it's because she's not going to evolve...

[She looks over at Harpy contemplatively for a little bit while the Aerodactyl eyes the gear with a distrustful look.]

... No, I don't think so. I think she'd get upset again if I asked for another Pokemon to fly me. Besides, I'm in the forest right now, so it'd be hard to get out without hitting something anyway.

[ Geez Saber, why so dramatic? ] Some of the Pokemon that never do evolve... how strange it is.

[It takes quite some time for her to respond, but eventually she shows up again at the gear with the Aerodactyl seated on the ground behind her.]

She might have, if I hadn't chased her down... At the very least, she didn't make it very hard.

I don't know why you were so sure though. She's still young, so I haven't had a chance to earn her loyalty yet.
