So. I'm looking at this map for my next destination, and I have two questions.

One. Is it really necessary to go through Mount Mortar in order to reach Mahogany Town? That sounds like a truly unpleasant hassle.

Two. Once we actually reach Mahogany, what's there to do there aside from challenge the gym? Should we be looking into just moving on right after or is there a reason to stay?

[Because honestly if it weren't for the Safari Zone she'd have seriously regretted staying in Cianwood this long.]

And speaking of travel... Kairi, Riku, Sora, we'll be leaving for Goldenrod this afternoon, though we won't be staying there long. On a related topic, congratulations on your Storm Badge, Joker.

[Riku's currently out by the shoreline, but he can't resist responding, having traveled that way before.]

We can just fly past the mountain. All we'd have to do is follow the water, unless you guys really want to hit the mountain.

[Personally, Riku'd rather they not get lost, especially given Sora's sense of direction.]

I am more than happy avoiding it. I've avoided going into caves this long, I don't plan on making this my first if it's not necessary.

Especially given what I've heard of the residents.

[There's a grumble from off camera and a brief shot of an orange snout. Seems Flare's a bit less than pleased with that remark, but Riku nudges him out of the frame.]

I'd actually say Mortar's one of the better caves in terms of Pokémon; it's just a huge detour, and we'd probably get stuck for like a week.

[How curious! Ilya doesn't know what to make of Flare's grumbling, but Riku's concern about getting stuck in the mountain has her grimacing.]

That's an even better reason to stay away. I absolutely do not want to get trapped in a cave.

The map says there's a big lake just north of the city. How about a beach trip?

Oh right, the Lake of Rage! Aren't there supposed to be Gyarados there? That should be fun to see.

Gyarados are the big snake-y looking ones, right? They're pretty cool.

That's right. The ones Magikarp evolve into. They're supposed to have truly vicious tempers.

Nah, it's not necessary. You can fly right over it or just...surf over the little lakes. No big deal.

There's not really a whole lot to do there though. The Lake of Rage is worth a visit and they have a pretty nice ice skating rink though if you're into that sort of thing. I'm preeetty sure that's open right now since I don't think it's not hockey season. But don't quote me on that because I am not a sports guy.

That's a great relief, I have to say.

I wish I knew how to skate. By all rights I should, given what winter was like where I lived, but I never got out of the castle enough to learn.

I know exactly what you mean. Though I don't think we'll have much to see in Mahogany, I'm afraid. Of course if you have ideas, I'm all ears.

Going inside the mountain at all is something I'm trying to avoid, let alone getting trapped inside.

That's one of the things I'm trying to figure out, actually. I've heard you can't fly to a place you've never been before, but it sounds like Riku disagrees.

Well, as it happens, I'm being told you can surf across the small lakes in front of it, or fly if you have a good map. So luck is on our side it seems.

You should be able to buy a decent map in Goldenrod, if not before. I got mine at the Department Store. You can get most anything there.

You think you're overleveled? Most of my darlings are at the maximum. It was downright boring... but that's what I get for taking my time on the journey, I suppose.

I'll have ta see if I can manage some of my others with the next one, then~. It's a lot more interestin' when ya have ta work for it- and some a them could have fun with a gym battle! It's mostly been my main act, Angel and the rest.
