At the very least, he's less likely to chomp on her hair.

Info:Easily the sweetest and most gentle of Ilya's team, Iris is named after her much-missed mother, Irisviel. Besides, it's hard to stay in the same room as Iris and not end up falling in love with her cheery, friendly, loving demeanor.

Info: Knowing well in advance that Deino usually bite to see, Ilya put all of her effort into making sure hers had another way to find its way around. This has lead Hydra to be perhaps the most touchy-feely of all Ilya's Pokemon, happily shoving its face into pretty much anyone's hand, stomach, face or whatever. Ilya sees no problem with this and actively encourages it.

Costume tip for all you newcomers to Halloween out there, and perhaps a few old hands at that. Before you put on your costume for the first time, make absolutely certain your hair isn't going to cause any problems.

[Ilya is lying back in a salon chair, eyes closed, not actually looking at the screen. Whoever's doing her hair isn't in focus so all that can be seen is hands, but she seems to be fully enjoying the attention to her scalp.]

It probably doesn't sound like that big of a deal, but you'd be surprised how many costumes can be ruined by uncooperative hair. [Her eyes crack open just enough for her to frown at the gear.] Especially if certain pokemon keep insisting on putting it in their mouths.

[But her annoyance can't last long with such a relaxing atmosphere, and after a moment she closes her eyes and relaxes again, humming a bit to herself.] Once I get done with this, I'll be heading down to Goldenrod, but that's only relevant to circus members and the people I live with... Kairi, if you still want to go with me you'd best be getting ready. For the rest of you, be careful in the haunted house... a few of mine are very eager to meet you.

[She chuckles merrily and gestures to her Pokemon to cut the feed.]

[A single, huge red eye takes up the screen for a moment before the gear pulls back to reveal a Metagross.]

Greetings. I am delivering a message on behalf of our Mistress, Ilyasviel von Einzbern. Everyone who does not recognize that name is encouraged to mute or ignore this message.

[There's a brief pause as Talos waits for everyone to do that.]

The Mistress's birthday is on the thirtieth of this month, barely over a week from now. I am sending out a mass invitation to a surprise party we are planning for her at the Training Center in Celadon City.

[A Sylveon suddenly rushes into the frame and whispers something. Talos's eyes widen.]

What do you mean we forgot to tell the others about this? Who was in charge of that?

[Another whisper.]

ORPHEUS! IS THIS YOUR IDEA OF A JOKE?

[The message cuts out after that.]

I don't tend to make a big deal out of this sort of thing, ordinarily. But under the circumstances it seems appropriate.

[Ilya holds up Claire's Rising Badge to the camera, then shows off the other seven badges pinned to her collar. She adds the last one and makes no effort to restrain her victorious smirk.]

That's the eight badges of Johto collected. I hope the elite battles over in Kanto give a bit more of a challenge. I don't suppose anyone can give me an idea of what to expect from them. I'd like to hear any stories you might have.

Oh, but I'm feeling nostalgic. Even if you haven't fought the elite matches yet, even if you only have one or two badges, why don't you tell me about them? It seems like as good a way as any to celebrate, at least until I get my little gathering underway.

[The sight of a Houndoom breathing flames onto a pile of sticks (in a firepit, of course) in front of the camera is the first thing the video shows, before it turns to a bundled up Ilya with a mug of hot chocolate.]

Hold it steady, Orpheus. Now then, hello everyone! With the season upon us and some of us deciding it's time to bring out some traditions, I thought I'd continue something I started last year and try to bring a favorite tradition of mine into this world.

Caroling.

Now it's a little different than usual, for those of you who know what that is. I'm not going door-to-door or anything, instead I'm just going to sing over the network. If you don't like this idea I encourage you to mute the gear right now.

[She gives a brief unimpressed flatface before smiling warmly again.]

On the other hand, if you have any requests, please feel free to give them! But please, try to keep them to good songs. I'm not going to sing "Jingle Bells".

So. I'm looking at this map for my next destination, and I have two questions.

One. Is it really necessary to go through Mount Mortar in order to reach Mahogany Town? That sounds like a truly unpleasant hassle.

Two. Once we actually reach Mahogany, what's there to do there aside from challenge the gym? Should we be looking into just moving on right after or is there a reason to stay?

[Because honestly if it weren't for the Safari Zone she'd have seriously regretted staying in Cianwood this long.]

And speaking of travel... Kairi, Riku, Sora, we'll be leaving for Goldenrod this afternoon, though we won't be staying there long. On a related topic, congratulations on your Storm Badge, Joker.

So is anyone else in dire need of some new clothes for the upcoming event? The road life isn't exactly easy on them, and most of us weren't lucky enough to get anything formal when we arrived.

The only place I know to get anything decent is the Department Store in Goldenrod, but if anyone has any other suggestions, I'm all ears. Everyone make sure to get something, or they just might kick you out.

[She has no idea if Clair would actually do that or not, but A: it's fun to worry people, and B: given the stories she's heard, she just might.]

But not for long. She turns her eyes to the side and blinks in surprise.] Orpheus, you weren't supposed to turn that on yet! I'm still warming up!

[But with a little sigh and a soft smile of amusement, she shrugs it off.] Oh well, I guess I'm about ready. Most of you probably don't know this but I've been... complaining a little about the sort of music they're playing and some of us are singing about now. Not that I don't like Christmas or anything, I just don't like most of the songs.

But there are a few good ones out there, and so I decided that I'd sing all the ones I know that I actually like tonight. Sort of like caroling only I'm doing it over the network instead of door-to-door. As such, if you'd like to hear one, you can just respond and I'll sing one for you. You can either pick one or let me do it, I don't mind either way.

Just don't ask me to sing something like "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer" or "Santa Clause is Coming to Town", alright?

[Her message sent, Ilya takes another sip and starts to sing again.]

[It starts with an unfamiliar woman walking up to the Breeding Centre in Goldenrod. She looks around for a bit, as if checking the place out, then puts her hands on her hips.]

Well, I think I just figured out what's going on.

[A few moments later, she's gone. Where? Well, it's fourth wall weekend. She could be anywhere.

Including right behind you, leaning over your shoulder and grinning.]

feelmyheaven. Everyone is welcome! Meet her at the Centre, wherever your character is, trapped in a cave somewhere, doesn't matter.]

[Ilya's sitting at a table outside of what looks like the Ecruteak public library, a mug of something in one hand and a book in the other. Behind her, Xion can be seen looking up at something in the sky, though she's a bit out of focus.]

This city really is an amazing place to learn about the legends of the Pokemon world. I should have come here earlier. That story about the phoenix and the three beasts... I thought it was fascinating, until I stumbled upon this.

[She turns the book to the camera, showing off a picture of two certain Pokemon...]

These two are said to control Time and Space itself. That sort of power, in the hands of these two Pokemon! Imagine what they could do if they put their minds to it...

[There's an odd gleam in her eye as she mentions that. Though some people might be distracted by Xion beginning to wave her arms in the air at something offscreen...]

They weren't kidding when they called them Legendary. Does anyone know anyplace else I can find out more about them? I think I'm running out of references to them in Ecruteak... this place is much more interested in the beasts and the birds. Which are intriguing, but-

[Ilya's interrupted as a Dragonite suddenly swoops down and crashes into Xion. She jumps and whirls around, staring for a brief moment as a Garchomp joins in. Fortunately, there aren't any fighting sounds following it...]

Er, Xion, are you alright? [She glances at the gear.] Excuse me a moment everyone, I think I have to go save my traveling partner...

[The gear clicks off.]

[OOC: Responses will come fairly quickly, Xion's Pokemon are just being overly affectionate. Xion and Ilya are both available to respond to this post, though Ilya will be fielding pretty much everything that isn't "are you okay, Xion?"]

[The gear opens on a scene of Ilya sitting next to her Deino, waving him over to a patch of flowers and bopping his nose with her hand when he tries to eat them. Behind her, Xion can be seen surfing on top of her Gyarados.

The gear then swivels over to show Berserker the Rhyperior marching around in the tall grass many yards away. A text message accompanies the scene.]

We see here the not-so-wild Berserker in what is most decidedly not its natural habitat.

[Berserker glances around a bit, then suddenly lunges at something.]

What's this? Berserker has found something! What could it be?

[His massive hand pulls back to reveal a male Nidoran, biting repeatedly at his fingers. Berserker stares at the tiny spiked beastie for a few moments.]

You can almost see the gears in his head turning. What is this strange creature? Why is it biting me? How can I make it stop?

[Apparently coming to a conclusion on that last one, Berserker slams his hand into the ground abruptly.]

And the answer to all his questions is, as always, Hammer Arm.

[Lifting up his hand again, Berserker inspects the dazed Nidoran. After a few moments of consideration, he turns to lumber over to Ilya.]

Ah! It seems he's decided to show his magnificent victory off to his trainer. I wonder how impressed she'll be?

[Ilya lifts her head as Berserker approaches, tilting her head in curiosity.]

What did you find, Berserker... Is that a Nidoran? It doesn't look very healthy.

[Apparently hearing this, the Nidoran abruptly lifts his head and leaps out of the stunned Rhyperior's hand, landing on shaky legs in front of Ilya and beginning to squeak rather unimpressively at her. She does seem pretty surprised he's even moving.]

Xion! I think Berserker found a Pokemon that can still stand after one of his attacks!

[ Despite the distance - both in terms of being away from land and riding on the crown of an over twenty foot sea serpent - Xion can be seen turning her head back to Illya. She taps her Gyarados head, who gives a low roar of obedience and swims his way closer to land. He lowers his head, but the black-clad girl doesn't slip off just yet. ]

Are you planning to capture it, Ilya?

I'm not sure! It must be pretty tough to still be standing, but I'm not so sure I want a Nidoran...

[Ilya is interrupted when the Nidoran in question proceeds to leap at Berserker's leg, biting and scratching. Berserker stares down at him for a couple moments, then thumps him with his tail. The Nidoran is driven into the ground, and even Ilya winces at the brutality of the attack.

And yet, somehow, when the dust clears, he's trying to rise back up again.]

I don't believe it...

[ Xion watches the Nidoran trying to get back up by sheer tenacity and will. It actually reminds her of all the times she was knocked down and struggled to rise against her opponents. She gives a contemplative hum. ]

I'd give it a chance.

Well, if it's that determined, maybe...

[Ilya pulls out a ball, looking thoughtful, as Hydra wanders over to sniff at the newcomer. In a fit of irony, the Nidoran bites the Deino's nose, and Hydra begins yelping in pain.

At that, Xion frowns. ]

Hey!

[ In response to her cry, Lancer the Gyarados gives a roar at that Nidoran, red eyes lighting up with a threat.

The Nidoran, recognizing the greater threat, releases Hydra, who staggers back behind Ilya, and turns to face Lancer on wobbly legs. He looks like he can barely stand, but he just will not go down.

And then Ilya tosses out a pokeball. He has a brief chance to blink before he's sucked in and the ball begins to wiggle. Once, twice... three times, and it dings. Ilya walks over to it.]

Okay, you've proven yourself. I name you... Achilles.

[ Xion smiles at that before giving Lancer a brief pat on his head to calm him down. He even closes his eyes briefly at the treatment before she turns to Illya. ]

You still want to walk along the road or ride with us?

Actually, my feet are getting kind of tired. Let me just... hey, where's my gear?

The text returns.]

Hydra, let go.

[A shiny, newborn Deino gives a plaintive whine, but Ilya ignores him and pulls her hair out of his reach, offering a long stick instead. He begins to bite into it with gusto.]

You know, people keep talking about how troublesome it is that Deinos love to bite things, but I think there's another problem, and I'm not so sure they're the only ones that have it. Deinos are blind, right? And so is their first evolution, Zweilous. But when they evolve into Hydreigon they can suddenly see. Doesn't that seem like it might cause problems? What would it be like to be blind all your life, then suddenly be able to see? They say Hydreigon is vicious, but maybe it's just scared.

[There's a snapping sound, and Ilya glances over at her dragon, who has bitten straight through that stick and is now trying to find something new. She sighs and offers him another one.]

I don't know what can be done about it, though. You can't really help them try to see before that. I suppose you could try blindfolding the Hydreigon, but I don't think that would work very well.

[The second stick snaps, and a sudden gust of wind blows her hair across Hydra's nose. He snaps it up immediately.]

Ack! ... Although, I guess I do understand the first problem, too. Hydra, let go. I said, let go-

[And with a muffled chomping sound, most of the rest of her hair suddenly vanishes into the maw of the Garchomp that just snuck up behind her. Ilya scowls.]

Not you too, Typhon! Why do you dragons think my hair tastes so good?

[The feed starts out with a crude drawing of what looks like a little girl with long hair surrounded by boxes. There's a smiley face drawn on her.

Then the boxes are x-ed out, and the smiley face turns into a frown.

Then there's several indistinct shapes that might resemble a Rhydon, a dragon of some sort, maybe a Volcarona... and let's face it there's no way the rest of those are recognizable. There's a giant ? drawn over their heads.

Before any further insults to fine art can appear, bold text suddenly appears on the screen.]

The network is working again, you dolt. I'm taking over.

My name is Orpheus. I am a Dusclops in service to Ilyasviel von Einzbern. For those of you who have been trying to figure out what my compatriot Poseidon's scribbles meant, Mistress Ilya's birthday was last month, just before the end. But because everything went crazy, she wasn't able to celebrate. She was looking forward to it, and now she's quite upset. What can we do?

... Curses, I think she sees us. Don't anyone let her know we-

[The message cuts off there.]

[It's late at night. The lights are dim, and Ilya is nestled up against her loyal Houndoom. Cerberus is curled around her, head in her lap, and she absently scratches the dog's ears as she stares into the gear for a few moments silently. She opens her mouth, closes it again, frowns in thought, and then finally opens it again, though she's speaking pretty softly.]

So... did anyone do anything for Mother's Day today? Even if your mother isn't here?

... Actually, especially then.

[She stares at the gear with a blank expression for a few moments, then sighs and turns it off. The particularly observant might notice a little bit of wetness in her right eye as she does so.]

[The feed starts out with the sound of an explosion and the slightly nauseating sight of the gear bouncing around as Ilya fumbles with it.]

Hephaestus, stop poking your nose into the Pineco! I don't care if you want to show off how strong you are against explosions, it's still really annoying!

[There's a sad, almost whining cry (which is impressive considering it sounds like grating steel) in response to that off camera, but Ilya stands her ground.]

Don't you argue with me! Leave them alone! [She sighs and turns back to the camera.] I wish I could have just flown back to Goldenrod now that I've gotten my badge from Azalea. Hephaestus has been incorrigible about showing off how tough he is now that he's evolved. I keep telling him I know already, but he just doesn't stop. Unfortunately, I don't have any Pokemon who could carry me yet-

[She's interrupted by an angry screech, and with a blink of surprise she turns the gear on a glaring (and tiny) Aerodactyl.]

Harpy, don't look at me like that, you're still a baby, you can't-

[The Aerodactyl screeches again, and snaps its wings out, beginning to beat hard against the ground.]

H-hey, what do you think you're doing? Stop that this instant!

[With one last screech, Harpy takes off to the trees, zig-zagging around the bigger branches and smashing right through the smaller ones, until, to Ilya's amazement, she breaks through the canopy. The gear follows her ascent and focuses on the hole she left as Ilya stands there dumbstruck.]

But... she just hatched a few days ago. How...?

[She cuts off mid-sentence as she makes a sudden realization.]

Harpy, come back here!

[The video clicks on to the sound of slow, ponderous, but very heavy sounding steps. Ilya appears to be seated rather than walking, but it's hard to tell what she's riding on.]

Hmmm... so, is there any real reason to go through that cave south of Violet except for it being the fastest way to Azalea? I have to admit, there don't seem to be any Pokemon I'd want in there, and I don't really like the idea of it being my next destination now that I've gotten the badge from Falkner. He was really nice, too, we talked about myths together for a bit after the fight. It sounds like I need to get to Ecruteak sooner or later.

But I'm getting off track. Really, do you have to go to that cave? Would there be any trouble just going back to Goldenrod, then through the forest instead? Forests are a lot better than caves. Or would you miss something important that way?

I should talk to Ahri about it... Oh, before I go, Berserker has something to share with you all.

[Her expression turns from a thoughtful frown into a huge grin as she turns the gear to face her newly-evolved Rhydon.]

See? He evolved! The day after we beat Falkner, in fact! Typhon did too, but I'll have to show her off later. Say hello, Berserker.

["Raaaaaarrrgh!"]

Good boy! [Giggling, she rubs his horn a bit with one hand, while the other reaches out to turn off the gear.]

Typhon!

[Ilya seems to have something attached to her hair. Something large, blue, and very round.

Oh, it's a (slightly oversized) Gible.

... Come again?]

Let go of my hair! Typhon, I'm ordering you as your trainer!

[The Gible stares up at her in response for a few moments...

Then chews slightly. Ilya's eyebrow twitches at that, and she jerks on her hair, trying to yank it out, but to no avail. There's a soft, eerie chuckle from behind the gear's camera.]

You could help, Orpheus! Gaaaah! Typhon, do you want me to get Berserker out here?

[No response except for more chewing. Ilya looks very fed up with this nonsense and turns to the gear.]

Does anyone know how to make these things let go? If I'd known this is what I was going to get I'd have asked Saber for a different egg...

( Cut For Goldenrod Branch Team Rocket Members )

[Late in the afternoon in Goldenrod city, there is the sound of something pounding on the pavement.

Is it a swarm of pokemon in the city? A new rocket plot? Another angry legendary?

Nope, it's just a young girl-]

Faster, Berserker, Faster!

[Riding through town on the back of her Rhyhorn.

People dive out of the way of the galloping rock-type, but Ilya doesn't seem to care in the slightest. She throws back her head and laughs gleefully, not even paying attention to anything but the rush of her ride.

... Someone might want to try and stop her before she smashes something.]
